Feeling tired

Woman 1: 'I feel exhausted all of the time.'; Woman 2: 'That's caused by your stroke.'

Tiredness and fatigue can be a big problem after a stroke.

In the early days and weeks, you may feel exhausted most of the time.

Even years after the stroke, you may still get tired very quickly.

Why?

Feeling tired after a stroke is not your fault. It is one of the effects of the stroke.

What you can do:

A man taking a nap
  • Make a note of when you get tired and what things you find tiring.
  • Don't take on too much at once.
  • Make time for frequent rests.
  • Arrange to do things when you are at your best... perhaps early in the morning.
  • Don't arrange anything important for times when you know you'll be feeling tired.
  • Some people find acupuncture useful.
