Balance
After a stroke you may feel wobbly or off balance.
The stroke may have affected the part of your brain which controls balance.
If part of your body is numb or paralysed because of the stroke, it can be difficult to keep your balance.
Sometimes your vision may be affected, and this can make you feel unsteady.
Sometimes medication can make you feel dizzy.
You may not want to move around because you're afraid of falling.
Poor balance: how to feel more confident

"If I need help, I press this."
Have an alarm system round your neck. You can use this if you fall.
Make sure your floor space is clear. Get rid of rugs and other things which might make you trip.
Give yourself plenty of time. Don't do things in a rush.
Using a stick when walking can make you feel confident. A stick also warns other people you are not steady on your feet.
Make sure your shoes fit properly.
If you feel dizzy after taking medication, tell your GP.
